Aston Villa officials are rumoured to be preparing an offer for Blackburn Rovers’ winger Ben Marshall, according to Sport in a Storm.
Before I get lots of replies on here and tweets on Twitter about the source, I have never heard of them so can’t really comment on how reliable they are or who in fact their source is. As I commented in my piece ‘Lambert targets another Manchester United midfielder ‘, rumours are going to come thick and fast – and we can expect even more of them now Chief Executive Tom Fox has stated that we will be active in the window.
We apparently sent a scout to Ewood Park on Saturday to watch the former Leicester City twenty-three-year old.
Marshall joined Blackburn in the summer of 2013 and signed a four year deal. He went on to make twenty appearances, scoring two goals, in his first season. The Salford-born player has already scored five goals in as many games this season.
The winger spent his youth career at Manchester United and Crewe Alexandra before signing his first professional deal with Stoke City in 2009. He has also had loan spells with Northampton Town, Cheltenham Town, Carlisle United and Sheffield Wednesday.

He isn’t a signing that excites me but maybe Blackburn fans can tell us some more about him. However, he is a winger and this is something the Villans are crying out for and have been since Paul Lambert became Villa manager.
It is quite funny, isn’t it really? For a manager who always plays with wingers, he doesn’t like to buy them!
Why on earth do we want this Blackburn Winger when we have the best young winger in Britain in Jack Grealish who plays well when give then chance but Lambert will not give hima game! If I were Randy Lerner I would ask Lambert that question and tell him until he has given players like Grealish and Robinson a game and I am not giving him any more money!
It is only because Randy Lerner insisted that Lambert play all the players who were exiled that Hutton got in the team and look what a revelation he has been! Sorry Paul Lambert here is your P45 just go away play marbles and I’ll get a decent manager who understands players, systems etc. and who actually has a Plan B when things go wrong!
