Marc Albrighton has penned a new three-and-a-half year deal at Villa.
The 20-year old youngster who has come out of the Villa youth academy has established a himself as a regular starter to the first team since making his first appearance against West Ham on the opening day of the campaign.
Albrighton has impressed manager Gerard Houllier who has moved quickly to tie down a long term contract. The new deal will see Albrighton stay at Villa until the summer of 2014.
Houllier confirmed: “The contract with Marc is until 2014. Marc has stepped up very well to the first team.
“Everything is about attitude – and his attitude is an example.
“He was devastated after being sent off against Burnley but he went to play for the reserves this Monday after being suspended for Sunday.
“Kevin MacDonald(reserve team coach) told me his work rate was fantastic, that his attitude and effort was an example.
“When you have the talent and the attitude, the commitment, looking after yourself, working hard in games…it means a lot. He enjoys playing.”
This should be a little of a boost following the two injuries of Villa’s two strikers as Villa seek there first win in five league games.
