England showing giving Us Fans feelgood factor back!
Article By Karl Young1 Comment »Mar 30, 2011
It made me very proud to look at England’s team sheet last night, seeing a midfield all made from former and present Villa players, apart from Wilshere.( who could have also been a former Villa boy, if No deal would have realised like everybody else what a coup it would be to sign him on loan for a season!).
I was also chuffed for Gary Cahill making his first start in a England shirt, depsite his deadly double against us, the wonderous overheard rocket against blues, makes him a Villa legend forever.
Capello stuck with a 4-3-3 formation, playing Downing and Young on either flank. The combination proved a astute move by Capello, as throughtout the first half Downing at times was unplayable setting up Carrolls slick finish, cutting in on the left to great effect from time to time and setting up chances for Young.
Young on the wing looked a real threat and should of scored three times. Milner and Barry also were consistent in the middle, although Milner had moments of real quality, most notably when Downing played Milner through on the edge of the box, Milner crossed low into the box and Young got first to it but dissapointingly miscued and hit the bar. These moments where Milner, Young and Downing fluidly and decisively linked up, I’m sure made all Villas fans drool at the dreams of what could of been this season if Milner had stayed. In the first 10 minutes Milner also feed through a quick defence splitting through ball to Downing, who took a touch then hit straight at Kingson, who pushed it over the goal. Cahill looked solid aswell, against a very skilful, attack minded Ghana side who lets not forgot where really up for this game and deserved to get to last years World Cup semi’s.
This energetic and creative performance from Englands’ new batch of young lions highlights how much we don’t need the laughably titled golden generation Rooney included, who is getting worse and worse. It also shown how pivotal Aston villa are in the English game, producing half the first international team, I say first becuase they were played and are way better than our proper first team. It also made me aware of how proud all Aston villa fans should be of our great club. I nearly forgot Delfouneso scoring for the U21′s, another bit of proof that Villa continue to carry the torch in terms of the leading the way for a bright British footballing future.
Most importantly though, last night made me realise what a great set up we have at our club, a club we need to get behind unconditionally in these last eight games, becuase we have a great squad of talent developing right now and need to stay in the Premierleague to continue to bulid. And what would the Premierleague and the international team be without Aston villa and who would be there to consol Tom hanks when he finds out we haven’t won the Premier league but actually been relegated, he’d be unconsolable! We can’t let this happen! Everton away I’ll be there in claret and blue I hope everyone who goes is too, as we need to create a claret and blue sea of songs and Unwavering support at Goodison Park.
