Are Veretout and Amavi ready to depart?

Jordan Veretout

Reports this weekend have suggested that former Nantes midfielder Jordan Veretout is seeking a move away from Villa Park.

Just last week, The Birmingham Mail claimed that the twenty-three-year-old wanted talks with new manager Roberto Di Matteo to see if he figured in the Italian’s plans.

Now, further reports, this time from L’Equipe, state that Veretout doesn’t want to play in the Championship and will seek a move to Spain or return home to France.

The want-away midfielder made twenty-five appearances for Aston Villa last season, assisting five goals. He appeared to lose his place in the first team when Eric Black took over the reins at Villa Park.

I firmly believe that we need players who want to be at Aston Villa next season. If Jordan Veretout believes he is better than the Championship, despite being a Premiership flop, in my opinion, then au revoir!

Jordan Amavi

According to reports in Foot01Monaco is the latest club to show an interest in Jordan Amavi.

The French side believe the chance to play in the Champions League and a big salary will be enough to entice the former Nice defender back to France.

The twenty-two-year-old was arguably the only successful signing last summer even though he missed the majority of the season with a knee injury.

Ideally, I would like us to keep hold of Amavi but I wouldn’t want to stand in his way either.

Lyon, Liverpool and AC Milan have also been linked with the left back in recent weeks.

  1. Unless RDM wants hem gone then I see no reason why we should let them go! Neither has proven they could make it in the premiership but both have shown potential, so I would like to see what RDM, Clarke & Bond can do with them and if they are not up to it let them go either in January or at the end of the season!
