Lambert Interested in French International
We start with the news from every Villa fan’s ITK, Mat Kendrick of the Birmingham Mail. Mat today broke the news that Villa were looking to sign 23 year old midfielder, Moussa Sissoko.
Sissoko plays for Ligue 1 side Toulouse and Villa might be able to get the French International at a cut-price fee, rumoured to be around £3m. However, Villa face competition from Sunderland, who are rumoured to be interested in the midfielder whose contract ends in the summer.
The fee for Sissoko’s services is rumoured to be the same as Charlton midfielder, Dale Stephens, who has been strongly linked with a move to Villa Park since the summer.
Transfer Fees Not an Issue
We now know the club will look to back Paul Lambert with whatever funds he requires.
It was stated by a source close to the club that Lerner was concerned and was willing to pump money back in after the defeat to Wigan.
The pressure increased after this weekend’s defeat to Southampton. The board are rumoured to be looking to bring in a centre back and centre midfielder as an absolute priority within the next couple of weeks.
This means transfer fees are not an issue but it may mean Lambert might need to work within the club’s financial payment structure.
But could Villa see a super signing arrive similar to Houllier’s move for Darren Bent?
Coutinho to Villa Still Possible?
Coutinho was strongly linked with Villa last week. Sky Italia were reporting that Villa had a 10 million euro bid rejected by the Italian outfit, Inter. However, Aston Villa officials soon told Sky Sports’ Pete Colley the following morning that the rumours were untrue.
But it has been brought to my attention that Villa may go back in with a rumoured loan deal for the 20 year old Brazilian.
Who would you like to see come into the club? Leave your comments in the section below.

Sorry Dave rumours are rumours – I wont believe a word of it until I hear it from Lerners mouth alone.
The unrest in the ranks of supporters is at its highest level I can remember in 50 years of following my club. The board will say anything to keep us headless chickens spending at the turnstiles. NO MORE.
what a load of rubbish, cant believe a word that comes from Faulkner or Lerner, i am with you Larry, enough is enough!! We just dont have the players to stay up thats a fact, unless there is a significant amount of funds available then forget it. We have a board who do not understand the fans or our club, LERNER OUT!!
Thanks Ron. Totally agree. LERNER OUT.
One more thing guys, this forum is far to nice in its comments and contents – time to become more militant towards the club and board – no more pussy footing about – say things as they really are. The truth hurts – but at the end of the day – the truth is the truth.
Lerner and company have consistanly lied to us. As devoted supporters we are being ripped off by this bunch of morons. Systamatically destroyed our club. This forum should be asking the awkward questions – and there are many – and should be demanding an answer from the club. If we get no reply, which is the way I would expect it to go, then perhaps then, and only then, may a few of my fellow supporting mugs, actually see the writing on the wall.
Sissoko would be great providing he can keep pace in the premier league. too many of these foreign lads cant handle the change (or it takes them a season to adjust). I would like to see players from the PL not foreign, but i dont think the money is there.
The money is there but Lerner won’t spend, our wonderful owner spends a minimum of six months a year in the USA, nobody hears from Faulkner what does that man do to earn his money? There are some many questions all villa fans have!!
Lerner will lose a fortune if we go down, lost gate money, tv money etc, what will Lerner do then!! We have all followed the early dream and now have had a good kick up the backside!! All villa fans need to stand up for our club, the next home game me and all the villa fans I know will make our feelings know!! Lerner out!!
in all fairness , hes plowed alot of his own money into the club during oneils managament and 18 mil 2 years ago , money that doug ellis wouldnt have spent , and militant action ? cause that worked out so well for blackburn
Sorry mate but how can you defend Lerner, come off it this guy will take us down, Lerner has tried and failed, money spent do me a favour he has sold half a team for a fortune, how much did he get for downing!! If all villa fans don’t wake up soon we will be down then it will be to late!! Up the villa.
im not defending him , but he funded oneil and we got 6th 3 times , but he hasnt got unlimited money like the man city owners or imbramavic , but when it boils down to it bad transfers ( bowery bennent and others )bad tactical decision and sadly bad reffing decisions . us villa fans have got to stop looking for someone to blame , houllier mcliesh and now lerner . whats next , the holte blaming the north stand and the trinity fighting the doug ellis
So why do you think we now have the worst villa team in a generation! It’s not villa fans trying to find who to blame we know who is to blame, the board have a lot to answer for, Faulkner at the end of last season said they had learnt from the mistakes of last season, the appointment of mcleish was a joke and we all know that!! We the fans know what we want and all villa fans old enough I tell you now don’t fancy the other option! I know a large following of villa fans have had enough!! Holte end till I die!!!
As usual Big Ron is spot on. You cannot defend Lerner – he knew exactly what he was getting involved with when he first bought the club – for God sake – he was a successful banker and businessman.
Yes we made top six – great – but that was the time to push on a build upon. Instead Lerner decides to sell our “family silver” (Barry,Milner Young etc) at great profit and replace with second rate players. Why on earth did MON leave – for exactly this reason – the decision making process at board level was (and still is) FLAWED, and he knew it. The net result can be seen at Villa Park today.
Faulkner/Lerner and company then proceeds to bring the club into disrepute with the appointment of McLeish – how embarrassing was that? Oh and dont forget we laid out another million quid for some marketing idiot to redesign our shirt and badge. How impressive was that? They dont have a football brain between them – collectively they are destroying our once great club. Was it Nero who fiddled whilst Rome burnt? The similarities of Lerner and Aston Villa are striking. There are numerous devoted fans who can remember how we all brought shares to get us out of the THIRD tier of football – times that hurt to think about. Those days are rapidily returning to Villa Park and it hurts.
LERNER OUT
Thanks Larry, everything we are saying is right and all villa fans know what the problems are. You can’t sell all your best players and replace them with average players at best!! Lambert took the poison chalice when he took the job, let’s face it in the early days we all got sucked in by Lerner but no more!! Lerner needs to be told that the dangerous game he is playing with our club is something the fans will not put up with!! The Bradford game is our chance to make our thoughts known!! Villa till I die!!
I have to agree. Lerner & Faulkner out. I don’t believe for one second that Lerner will approve any type of big money to be spent. We are now over half way through the transfer window, and what have we got …yes nothing. The warning signs started with MON walking out, he knew the way the board was and seen the sinking ship. We are sinking faster than the titanic. We were taught how to play football by a fourth tier team. That says it all. Every team knows how to play against us and we just don’t have the experience to stand up to it. You can’t survive on basic low wages in the PL. Blackpool were the classic example of that. The strategies of Lerner and Faulkner are flawed. We have flirted with relegation for the past 2 seasons and now it’s sadly going to become reality.
However, they could change this overnight if they had guts and glory. Foreign players won’t cut it, unless hey are of world class status. They take too long to adjust. Benteke is and will be first class, but he needs the time to adjust. He can bully, has great ball skills and can finish. But the PL is a different standard than any other league and its going to take him a season or two to adjust. Unfortunately we don’t have that luxury. We need seasoned pros with PL experience, the sad thing is I know that’s not going to happen. They will yet again trawl the lower leagues and foreign players in the bargain basement section. I agree that a stance needs to be taken. I want to see glory days come back to villa.
Don’t know Wat 2 say lost 2 bradford again the most important game game of the season and he Lambert picks he’s favorite players Wat was wrong with him picking wiemann and holman they should have been playing from the start Lambert has lost the plot and the board should be thing about the future of villa 4 me LAMBERT AND THE BOARD OUT LAMBERT DOEST NOT KNOW WAT HE IS DOING HE HAS COST US THE FINAL
